The Russian Book Of Records (I’d imagine the Russian equivalent of the Guinness World Book Of Records) just certified the largest Coffee Bean Mosaic. I didn’t know there was such a category but here it is. Measuring nearly 30 square meters, The Awakening mosaic was recently unveiled in Gorky Park, Moscow.
Created by Russian artist Arkadi Kim and his team, the mosaic took two weeks to complete. This included weighing the coffee beans, roasting them to achieve the desired color tones and placing them at just the right spot to make an actual image. It’s made of over a million coffee beans and weighs in at a not insignificant 397 pounds.
The coffee bean artwork will remain in Gorky park until July 1st. After that the whole thing will be dismantled and the beans sold to a processing plant. Local authorities have also set up a cafe and coffee tasting area for visitors.
