Listeria Cantaloupe Lawsuits Against Jensen Farms Move Forward: Farm Files For BankruptcyThe Colorado farm that was traced to a Listeria outbreak in cantaloupe last year has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.  That’s made way for the flurry of lawsuits that have been filed to move forward.

The outbreak was blamed for at least 30 deaths.  Lawyers say that could be as high as 36.  It infected 146 people in 28 states.  It is the deadliest food born outbreak in 25 years.  Old and hard-to-clean equipment at Jensen Farms in conjunction with standing pools of dirty water on the floor were most likely the genesis of the outbreak.
