The 3 in 1 Breakfast Station

The 3 in 1 Breakfast Station

I feel like I’ve seen something along these lines from one of those “things are better in the future!” 1950′s reels.  I could be wrong.  Either way, the future is apparently here.  No word on whether it’s any better.  Someone is making an effort though.  In about the space a normal toaster oven takes up someone’s figured out a way to incorporate a toaster, coffee maker, and a tiny griddle.  No doubt it’s a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none kind of compromise, but it’s a neat idea.  And at a shade under $40 it’s not a particularly expensive one either.  If you’re short on counter space, lazy, or just dig quirky kitchen appliances this could be just the ticket to your morning nirvana.  That or something you’ll buy, use twice, then allow to collect dust for a year before donating to Goodwill.

Gold Musical Wine Glass – Wine Glasses With Musical Notation

Gold Musical Wine Glass - Wine Glasses With Musical Notation

Remember when you first learned you could make sound with a wine glass, either hitting it or running your finger around the edge?  Someone’s taken advantage of that fact and made some wine glasses you can carry a tune with.  Wine glasses with musical notation.  Neat but not cheap at $80 for a pair.  I’ll let the website take it from here.

Wine and dine in perfect time! Get your next dinner party humming when you turn your sips into a symphony with these gilded glasses turned musical instruments. The etchings on the glasses are musical notations that correspond to the level of the liquid. When the user drinks to D for example, he or she may run a finger along the rim of the glass to create its lush, sonorous note. Or, for the more percussive partier, the same note will ring out with a gentle rap of his or her utensil on the side of the glass. From rounds of “Row, row, row your boat” to more ambitious orchestrations, you’re sure to strike a chord with the guests at your next soiree with this pair that covers a full 12 note octave from A flat to G. Made in Austria from lead-free crystal.

The Sergeant Pepper Mill

The Sergeant Pepper Mill

How does that song go?  It was twenty years ago today, Sgt. Pepper…..well never mind.  The Sergeant Pepper Mill is a clearly here to bring some pepper to an otherwise bland meal.  It’s a high-quality beechwood pepper grinder, painted to look like a mustachioed Beatle.  Very, very cool.

Animal Sculptures Made from Reclaimed Kitchen And Household Objects

Animal Sculptures Made from Reclaimed Kitchen And Household Objects

Artist Sayaka Ganz was deeply impacted as a child by Japanese Shinto beliefs that all objects and organisms have spirits, and was also taught that objects discarded before the end of their usefulness “weep at night inside the trash bin” (how awesome is that?).  As her artistic side developed, she infused her artwork with these beliefs, using discarded and reclaimed household objects as a medium for her sculptures. Ganz says:

Animal Sculptures Made from Reclaimed Kitchen And Household Objects

I only select objects that have been used and discarded. My goal is for each object to transcend its origin by being integrated into an animal/ organic forms that are alive and in motion. This process of reclamation and regeneration is liberating to me as an artist.

Building these sculptures helps me understand the situations that surround me. It reminds me that even if there is a conflict right now, there is also a solution in which all the pieces can coexist peacefully. Though there are wide gaps in some areas and small holes in others, when seen from the distance there is great beauty and harmony in our community. Through my sculptures I transmit a message of hope.

The Portable Grill That’s Also A Deep Fryer

The Portable Grill That's Also A Deep Fryer

Hammacher Schlemmer is always ready to answer the questions you never asked.  The Deep Frying Portable Grill is here to answer something.  With a combination grill, griddle, and deep fryer in one, the possibilities for a fiery eyebrow singing death in your upscale suburban neighborhood are increased three fold.  And for only $250!

The Portable Grill That's Also A Deep Fryer

I’ll let the folks over at HS give you a better description than I could ever muster:

This is the portable grill and deep fryer that allows cooks to make crispy hors d’oeuvres and sear steaks or hamburgers simultaneously. A reservoir in the center of the grill holds up to 16 oz. of cooking oil and fries up to four servings of chicken wings or french fries. The grill’s 452″ sq. cooking surface accommodates up to eight hamburgers and includes a grate for high-temperature searing, a griddle ideal for cooking bacon or vegetables, and a warming plate that toasts buns. Powered by widely available 1-lb. propane canisters, the unit emits up to 24,000 BTUs to generate temperatures in excess of 600º F and produce restaurant-worthy charring. The included oil thermometer displays the temperature of the deep fryer, a removable bamboo cutting board aids food preparation, and the push-button electronic igniter eliminates the need for matches or lighters. Folds to only 10″ wide and stores in the included bag for ease of portability. Igniter requires one AA battery. 31″ H x 29″ Diam. (38 lbs.)

Keep the burn cream at the ready and have 911 on speed dial.  Summer is here!
